Creamy Cherry Pistachio Smoothie

Mmmmmmm. Cherries. This has to be hands down the best smoothie I've ever made. It was delightfully creamy, tangy, and sweet with a distinct flavor kick from the roasted pistachios. Usually I lean toward almonds when making anything with cherries, but I'm glad I decided to switch it up a little and try something different. I also used a honey flavored Greek yogurt, which added tremendously to the creamy texture and gave a soft sweetness to combat the tang of the cherries. It was really good. I'm already thinking about making another batch!

Getting Started:

Soooo, there's not much to this one. Simply dump all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. I decided not to add ice to mine because I never end up drinking it all right away and the ice tends to melt and dilute whatever smoothie I happen to be neglecting at the time. I also think this recipe in particular would not have been as satisfyingly creamy if I had added ice. The frozen cherries do a pretty good job of keeping things cold on their own.

Don't mind Sally; she just wanted to help with the picture taking. Fortunately she decided she had better things to do like trying to knock over my table lamp, crying to go out in the back yard, and then settling in to take a "hard earned" nap.

Wrapping it Up

This recipe made less than I thought it would, but it's perfect for one tall glass, or two small glasses if you're nice enough to share. The ingredients are pretty simple, so it would be very easy to make more if you're planning to have guests over, particularly if the occasion requires you to win someone over with your impressive smoothie-making skills. You're welcome.

Ingredients:
1 cup frozen cherries
3/4 cup honey flavored Greek yogurt (I used The Greek Gods brand)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup salted, roasted pistachios

Serving size: about 12 oz
